James William Collins

James William Collins (Jim) passed away on January 24 2016 due to complications of dementia. He was born in Tacoma Washington on September 21, 1932 to Thomas and Grace Collins.

Jim grew up in the Minterbrook area where he helped his parents in their small grocery/service station. He attended elementary school in Vaughn Washington and graduated from Peninsula High School in 1951.

He married PearlAnn Green soon after high school, and they had three children. He was an avid outdoorsman in his younger years, enjoying hunting, fishing and family camping trips. He also took great pride in his gardening and landscaping his yards at his homes.

Jim was an oil burner service man for many years in the Kitsap County area, he finished out his working career as a salesman for Williams Filters of Tacoma, with a route that kept him driving around the Olympic peninsula which he loved. His sales job kept him active and enjoying his customers until his health forced him to retire at the age of 75.

He was proceeded in death by his former wives PearlAnn Fee, Evelyn Nelson Collins, and Caroline Collins. He is survived by son Kenneth Collins (Maureen) of Sandy Oregon, daughter Nancy Brooks (Fred) of Port Orchard, son Marvin Collins of Port Orchard. Grandchildren Eric Brooks of California, Katherine Hopewell of Anchorage Alaska, Felicia Flerchinger of Sandy Oregon, Cyndi Anderson attending law school in Washington D.C., and several Great Grandchildren whom he really enjoyed spending time with whenever they were in town.
