Mr. James L. Cornwell, Age: 73, died at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton, Washington on December 5, 2001. He had been a resident of Port Orchard, Washington.Mr. Cornwell had been born on September 22, 1928 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Alan and Anna(Dickerson) Cornwell. He attended Roosevelt High School in East Chicago, Illinois, and Marine Corps Correspondence College. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, retiring at the rank of First Sergeant.On January 19, 1951 he married Priscilla J. Anderson in Hammond, Indiana.Mr. Cornwell served as a Deputy Sheriff in Eugene, Oregon; and then as a Dispatcher with the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington. Mr. Cornwell truly enjoyed fishing and camping.He is survived by his wife, Priscilla, of the family home; daughters Catherine Traywick of Kent, Washington; daughter Candice Turrentine of Seattle, Washington; brothers, John Cornwell of Houston, Texas; Paul and Charles Cornwell of Lansing, Indiana; sister, Edna Vance of Lansing; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Echterling; and a brother, Donald Cornwell.Private Inurnment will take place at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.The family has asked that any memorial donations be sent to ''Children's Hospital'', 4800 Sandpoint Way N.E., Seattle, WA 98105.All arrangements are under direction of Rill Chapel, Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home and Crematory in Port Orchard.
