James Walter Durham

April 25, 1960 — September 4, 2021

Its important to know how his life began, born James Walter Ellis on April 25,1960 later changed to Durham . His mother Madeline married Don Durham and together they raised him and his sister Jennifer McConaughey. He was extremely smart and good at math but could not seem to get his homework done because there was always something more important to do. He learned the value of a good work ethic as a young boy and passed that on to his children. Jim played a role in raising 8 children Kari Knuutila, Tarha Archer, Jamie Durham, Mike Barnett, Scott Thompson, Kayleigh Drouin, Zach Drouin, and Morgan Drouin. He also spent a lot of time with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He loved to spend his time exploring, camping, fishing and being part of the Knights of Pythias. Jim ran his own construction business and served on the board of the Connection Credit Union.

He and his wife Tammy Durham had a small farm, where they raised all kinds of farm animals over the 40 plus years he lived in Olalla. They built a home that was always open and inviting - always a cup of coffee or bon fire and BBQ for their family and guest to enjoy. They did everything together from chasing kids to going to the theater. You might not have known it but Jim was a theater guy and loved going to local theaters and having dinner after. However, his happy place was definitely home and if not there, he was fishing.

Camping and fishing was something that he loved to do with friends and families. It didn’t matter if was a tent or a camper he just loved being outside. The Knights of Pythias organization is extremely important to Jim. He held all positions in his local lodge in Port Orchard as well as in the Grand lodge. He was on the board of their Knights retirement home located in Vancouver Wa., performed maintenance of the cemetery located in Port Orchard which will be his final resting place.

James memorial will be held at the American Legion Hall at 615 Kendal St Port Orchard WA on Saturday September 25th, 2021 at 2 pm.
