James "Jim" A. Fisher of Tahuya, Washington died at Harrison Memorial Hospital July 6, 2005 due to a stroke. He was 81. He was born September 10, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri to John and Nellie (Peecher) Fisher. He married Barbara Ann (Monis) September 4, 1946 in Oakland, California (divorced 1977). James served in the U.S. Army in WWII as a corporal. He received the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal; American Campaign Medal; WWII Victory Medal; Good Conduct Medal; and served in U.S. Army Battery A 261st Field Artillary Battalion 13th Core. James worked in landscape maintenance. He worked part-time for the South Kitsap School District and at BoMac Gravel Company after moving up from California in 1978. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2669; volunteer Fireman for a number of years in the Bay Area of California; Scout Master in California. He enjoyed teaching Chess; fishing; maintaining his lawn; he was a great grandpa. Jim is survived by son - Larry Fisher (& wife, Ramona) of Port Orchard; daughters - Linda Miller (& husband, Timm) of Pleasanton, California, Janet Andrade (& husband, Al) of Manteca, California; sister - Betty Hiatt (& husband, Lewis) of Oakdale, California; 3 grandchildren - Laura Irvine (& husband, Allan), Jim Moock, Ruth Fisher; 2 great-grandchildren - Aurillia and Alex Irvine. He was preceded in death by: brothers - Melvin and Dan Fisher and by sister - Rose Piva. A memorial service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in Port Orchard, Washington on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be at Tahoma National Cemetery on Tuesday July 12, 2005 at 1:00 p.m.
