James Hall

December 3, 1927 — November 23, 2002

Jim Hall, 74, of Port Orchard, WA, died peacefully at his home on November 23, 2002, surrounded by the love of his family, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.He was born December 3, 1927, in New London, CT, to R.Adm. F.S. Hall and Gertrude (McDiarmid) Hall. He graduated from Fredonia High School in Fredonia, NY, in 1946. He then went to Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, served in the Army Air Corps, and graduated from University of Washington in 1950.He married Catherine Fauntz on June 8, 1951, in Seattle, WA.Mr. Hall worked for the Civil Aeronautics Administration in Alaska, Colorado, and Oklahoma before joining Hewlett-Packard in Washington, DC, in 1959. He served as Regional Manager in New England until his early retirement in 1985.After retiring he and his wife moved and settled in Port Orchard to run Reflections Bed & Breakfast, enjoying the company of guests from all over the world.Mr. Hall was active in Port Orchard Rotary Club, South Kitsap Chamber of Commerce, Kitsap Literacy Council, and Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church.He enjoyed boating in the San Juan Islands and on Chesapeake Bay, golfing with his friends, flying his Cessna-172, meeting his friends at Myrhes, going to Huskies and Mariners games, woodworking, gardening, playing with his grandchildren, and rooting on his favorite sporting teams.Survivors include his wife, Catherine Fauntz; their four children, Duff and Ginger Hall of Corvallis, OR; Pamela Hall of Portland, OR; Stacy (Hall) and Tom Brink of Phoenix, AZ; Julie Hall and Mark Finerty of Kensington, NH; six grandsons and one granddaughter.Viewing will be Monday, November 25, 2002, from 5:00 to 8:00PM at Rill Chapel. Services will be Tuesday, Novemer 26, 3:00PM at Rill Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the Rotary Foundation in care of Port Orchard Rotary Club, in memory of Jim Hall.
