James "Jimmy" Wallace Brown

April 8, 1961 — September 17, 2022

James “Jimmy” Wallace Brown, 61, of Puyallup, WA, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022, after a tough battle with kidney cancer.

Jimmy was born on April 8, 1961, to Barbara Nadine Dean-Ruscin and James Brown in Janesville, Wisconsin.

Jimmy is survived by his siblings Brian and Emy Brown, Marjorie and Brian Meyer, Amanda and Paul Hoskins; his loving children Tarrah and Phil Wasser, Jamie Crosby, James Noll-Brown, and Braxton Brown; his grandchildren Destiny and Dillon Wasser; Glen Zink; Ashlee, Mason, and Luke Crosby; his great-grandchild Damon Zink; and his adored nieces and nephews Brandon Brown; Maranda Dean; Alexis and Jessi Hoskins; Briell, Brianna, Brenna Rae, and Braiden Meyer; Bruktawit, Abigail, and Gabriel Brown.

Jimmy was born in Janesville, Wisconsin, but grew up in Port Orchard, Washington, where he was a competitive track runner at Marcus Whitman Junior High and South Kitsap High School. He began working at a young age as he always took pride in supporting his friends and family. He was incredibly selfless, humorous, ambitious, stubborn, and of course, loving as all hell. Anyone that knew him would agree that Jimmy was a stand-up guy, who would have given you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

In his early forties, he worked alongside his brother-in-law, Paul, as a low voltage electrician journeyman. Later, he joined Ohno Construction as a Mechanic and Shop Manager. He always spoke very highly of Ohno and his beloved colleagues.

In his earlier years, Jimmy loved whipping around in muscle cars, including his 1966 Chevelle and his brandy wine 1971 Camaro. Some of his other hobbies throughout his life included shooting his crossbow and, of course, riding his Harley Davidson around with his buddies. What many people may not know is that he also liked to paint in his free time.

His viewing will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022, from 3 pm to 5 pm at Rill Chapel (1151 Mitchell Avenue, Port Orchard WA 98366). His service will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 2 pm at Rill Chapel; followed by his burial at Sunset Lane Cemetery (1000 Bethel Avenue Port Orchard, WA, 98366) at 3 pm. There will also be a reception at the Bethel Saloon (Port Orchard, WA) where we can celebrate his wonderful life, as he would have wanted.

He will be deeply missed by family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors.

Please think of him every time you pour yourself a cold rum & coke.
