Jim passed suddenly and unexpectedly at his home on Thursday afternoon. He was "Very Smart" and a good man with a big heart. All who knew Jim, I'm sure would agree, knew that he could find a solution or a fix for just about anything and would always be the first to offer a helping hand to anyone in need of one.
Jim was a Proud Submariner Navy Veteran who loved his country! Jim "The Legend" Miller also served as a civilian maintenance electrician in Shop 06 and as a Security Alarm Systems Technician at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton Washington. He recently retired after 43+ years of government service on January 2, 2021.
Jim and his funny jokes and contagious laughter will be dearly missed by sooo many of his family and friends!!!
Jim was preceded in death by his father Brownlow Miller, mother Betty Burkey and sister September Miller. He is survived by his soulmate Holly Smelser and her sons Nicholas Smelser and Jeremy Ostrom, his only son Jesse Cole Miller, daughter Marina Irene Miller and her newlywed husband Taylor Van Etten, his brother Jeff Miller and Amy Miller, his nephews Jared, Joseph, and Jeffrey Miller and his sister Hasu and Bob Farmer among other family members throughout the USA and Japan. He will miss the special times and late-night calls and laughter with his best friend Walter Harvey. And many many friends who loved him and so enjoyed his company.
