James Simmons,

James K. Simmons, Sr., 64 of Port Orchard, Washington died on May 18, 2001 at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, Washington. He was born on April 6, 1937 in Hindsdale, Montana to William & Frances (Blocker) Simmons. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard in 1955. James married Marjorie Jean Trihub.Mr. Simmons worked for 25 years as a Ticket Salesman for the Washington State Ferries, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his children & grandchildren. His hobbies included miniature railroad and antique cars.Surviving are his wife Marjorie; sons James K. Simmons, Jr. of Ravensdale, Washington, David Simmons of Maple Valley, Washington, Michael Simmons of Ravensdale, Washington, Donald Ramsdell of San Diego, California, and William Ramsdell of Grover Beach, California; daughters Barbara Gresham of Renton, Washington, Christie Ramsdell of Kauai, Hawaii, and Rebecca Pitt and Shelly Williams, both of Longbranch, Washington; brother Carrol Simmons of Phoenix, Arizona; sister Betty Potter of Silverdale, Washington; and 23 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Curtis & Douglas Simmons.Private family service is planned. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
