James David Walker died of mesothelioma August 2, 2002 at his residence in Port Orchard, Washington. He was 70.He was born January 21, 1932 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Jay and Alma (Hollenbeck) Walker.James graduated from Lewis and Clark High School of Spokane, Washington in 1950.He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1950 to 1954, then served in the reserves until 1958. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.He worked in heavy construction as a carpenter and in home building with J.W.S. (co-owner with Walt Seals) Construction . . . contracting in Port Orchard area since 1960.He was a member of Carpenters' Union 1597 for 52 years.James was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School, and was a Lutherhaven Board Member and Youth Counselor.He is survived by his wife Faye (Mason) Walker, sons - Dean (and wife Jackie) Walker and Todd (and wife Beverly) Walker, daughter Cindy (and husband Larry) Ecklund, all of Port Orchard, Washington, and sister Dorothy Rose of Bothel, Washington, 7 grandchildren (6 granddaughters & 1 grandson), numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: sister - Bertha Minor and brother - Clyde Walker.Services will be held Saturday August 10, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Port Orchard, Washington.
