Jane A Ingulsrud

February 24, 1929 — April 7, 2015

Born Ellwyn Jane Adel Martin on February 24, 1929 on the family farm in Climax, Saskatchewan, Canada to Isabell and Maurice Martin.

Died April 7, 2015 in Port Orchard, Washington at the age of 86. She is survived by her husband of 64 years Olger ‘Bud’ Ingulsrud, sons Clark (Sharon), Warren, and Rodger, all of Port Orchard. One Brother Harold Martin of Whitehorse, Yukon Canada, one sister Julia Machart of South Bend Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Aubrey of Drayton Valley, Alberta Canada. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Jane attended elementary school near Climax, Saskatchewan, where she drove a horse drawn cart 5 miles each way from the farm to school. In the fall of 1944, Jane and her sister Julia took the train to Park River, North Dakota to stay with their Grandmother, Augusta Martin where they attended high school and graduated in 1944. Her first job after high school was a book keeper at a furniture store, electric company, and funeral home, all in the same office.

She married Bud on July 2, 1950 in Park River. Jane was a Navy wife during the Korean War while Bud was in combat, and she became a Naturalized Citizen of the United States on December 3, 1951. They moved to Bremerton, Washington in March 1953. In 1957 they moved to Port Orchard, and in 1986 built their new home on Sarann Ave with beautiful views of Puget Sound, Bremerton, and the Olympic Mountains, which she so enjoyed seeing.

Jane worked part time at JC Penny in Bremerton and as a waitress at Myhre’s Restaurant in Port Orchard. She was the owner and operator of the Retsil Snack Bar at the Washington State Veteran’s Home. Jane and Bud traveled around the country for 16 years in their motor home, and also traveled in Scotland, England, and Europe.

Jane’s favorite hobby was oil painting, mainly wildlife, flowers, trees, and scenic places. She was a prolific painter and many family members are enjoying her paintings.
