Janice Lynn Mesa

January 29, 1973 — January 25, 2025

Port Orchard

Janice was born on January 29, 1973 in San Diego, CA. She spent her childhood in San Diego and on Guam with her grandparents. She is the eldest of June Sudo Mesa San Nicolas, first grandchild of Rosa Baza Sudo Mesa and Eduardo Camacho Mesa. She attended St. Francis Catholic School in Yona and graduated from Mira Mesa High School in San Diego. Janice spent her college years at culinary school, excelling with a degree in pastry. Janice then had a plethora of jobs from travel agent, catering sous chef, telemarketer, to caregiving. Janice entered a dessert bake off at the local church in Santee, CA where she won 2nd place for her Tiramisu. Janice is often sought after for her tiramisu or latiya desserts.

Janice was very involved with her churches at 7th day Adventist and New Beginnings in Port Orchard. She was involved in many women’s groups and Bible study, most notably her involvement with Impact 195 at Rock Church in San Diego. Janice traveled to places like Jamaica, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico on mission trips with her church group.

Janice used to love reminiscing about her childhood in her grandma’s bakery, learning jobs like pepper picking to make Donne dinanche, watering her grandmother’s bougainvillea plants to making the first step process for pan tosta and delivering boxes of freshly made dinner rolls for families in the village. Janice later spent her middle school and high school years with her sister Tara with aunts and uncles in Washington and California. She enjoyed cooking dishes for family gatherings.

Janice loved going to the movies but most especially reading her Bible. Janice felt her strong suit was encouragement. Encouragement to be closer with our Lord. And the love Jesus Christ has for us. Her favorite saying was, "who’s the man? JESUS!!!," a warrior for Jesus and his teachings. She had a deep love for the beach, Gods creation, often finding peace and contentment after when she goes home. Janice loved sharing her bibles with people interested in learning about the Bible. She loved plumerias and her favorite color was purple. Janice is preceded in death by her stepfather Jose San Nicolas; grandmother, Rosa; grandfather, Eduardo; uncle, Joseph Mesa; Aunie Tita Cruz and auntie Shirley Mesa. She is survived by her mother, June; and her siblings Tara and Noel Chargualaf (Jayvin, Atisa,Jahi, Alina), Jeska and Freddy Ordunez, Travis and Kayla Littlefield (Seraphyna and Ellieana), Trevor, Tyler and Janelle Hoovgaard (Tystin), along with numerous aunts uncles nieces and nephews.
