Janice Ellen Townsend

April 8, 1937 — January 18, 2021

Janice Ellen (Johnston) Townsend was born in Los Angles CA and grew up in Port Orchard WA. She graduated from South Kitsap High School class of 1955.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ where her outstanding singing voice filled the church building.

Janice began her work life in Port Orchard in the bakery and the movie theater. Later she worked for several years at the American Institute of Banking in Minneapolis MN where she found a great many good friends among the bankers she served. AIB is where she met her co-worker and lifelong friend Phyllis. Janice retired as Office Manager for Copeland Companies. After retirement she returned to Washington to join her son Bret in Belfair.

Janice married Clint (Roy) Townsend in December 1957 and joined him in an adventure that carried her to a homestead in the Territory of Alaska where her sons Glen and Clint were born. A return “stateside” blessed Jan with two more boys, Doug and Bret. Janice followed her husband to Minneapolis Minnesota where she became the matriarch and center of her family as it grew and matured.

Janice became an outstanding cook. “She could make woodchips taste good” is a direct quote.

She is remembered with great love for her fierce love and support for her family.

We all miss you Jan. Go with God.
