Jerry J. Harmon, 59, of Port Orchard, died Thursday, January. 30, 2014 at his home. Jerry was born February 9, 1954 in Roseburg, Oregon to Marlin and Elizabeth (Foster) Harmon. Jerry graduated from Brea Olinda high school in Brea, California in 1972. He then attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and Cal State Fullerton in Fullerton, California. He was a hospital corpsman in the U.S. Navy from 1973 to 1990, serving in Bethesda, Maryland, San Diego, California, Groton, Connecticut, Diego Garcia and Bremerton, Washington.
Jerry was employed as a Dialysis Technician for 21 year, caring for dialysis patience, maintaining, repairing, setting up dialysis machines and ordering supplies.
He was a long time member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was also a long time Boy Scouts of America member starting with a boy scout as a young man and served as a scout leader throughout his adult life in California and Washington. Jerry's interest included repairing and using computers. As a young man he loved wrestling and playing softball.
Jerry is survived by his wife Denise of the family home in Port Orchard, sons, Matthew, Tyler, and Zachary of Port Orchard, Joshua (Andrea) of Reno, Nevada, Kelly of Salt Lake City, Utah, daughter Aubrey Trabert of Reno, Nevada, brother, David Harmon of Sweet Home, Oregon, grandchildren, Madison Harmon, Andrew Trabert, and three more boys.
Memorial service will be Wed., Feb. 5, 2014, 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3877 Mullenix Rd SE, Port Orchard. Burial will be at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.
