Jerry Lynn Thompson, 69, of Port Orchard, WA passed away on October 6, 2010. Jerry was born on August 28, 1941 to Harvey and June (Sterett) Thompson in Denver, CO. Jerry was the descendant of English immigrants, William and Susan Thompson who homesteaded during the 1880’s in Colorado. William and Susan with the help of their 5 son’s built a productive wheat growing and ranching farm, little of the original ranch remains but Jerry has remained in farming with his nephew Tom to this day. On April 12, 1968, Jerry married Jacqueline L. Hull in Bremerton, WA. Jerry honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1982 and achieved the rank of Interior Communications Senior Chief Petty Officer. Jerry graduated with Associates Degree from Tacoma Community College in 1985 then worked as a design engineer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard until 1996. For the last 37 years, Jerry has been an active member of the William H. Upton Lodge 206, Order of Eastern Star of Port Orchard and Belfair, Scottish Rite, Shrine, York Rite, Commandery of Malta, and has set on the advisory board for the Jobs Daughters. He enjoyed woodworking, travel, and serving his community. Some of his proudest achievements included his work with the Christmas Angels, Books for Bikes, and his undying love for family and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his brother Thomas Harvey Thompson Jr. and sister Lois June Butler. He is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline of Port Orchard; sons, Robert and James ; daughters, Paula, Janet and her husband Don Gibson; and grandchildren Marc, Josh, Dustin, Jason, Taylor, Shelby, Aaron, Tanner, Zach, Morgan, Rowan, and Katelynn, and has a great grandchild due in the spring. Memorial services will be held 1 PM at Rill Chapel, Port Orchard Wa. A graveside service with military honors will immediately follow. A potluck reception will be held 4 PM at the Port Orchard Masonic Hall on Sidney Rd..
