Jewel Quisenberry

March 20, 1904 — June 19, 2001

Jewel went to her heavenly father on June 19th, 2001. She was residing at the Port Orchard Care Center. She was born in Pfiffer, Arkansas on March 20, 1904 to Frank and Nola Salkeld. She grew up in Arkansas until she moved to Memphis, Tennessee and went to nurses training at St. Joseph Hospital. She continued nursing until she was 73 years of age. In 1926 she married Edward W. Quisenberry and they were married for 65 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, thirteen siblings, and her grandson, Dan Quisenberry. She is survived by her daughter, Sue, and spouse, Ralph Paulson of Bellevue, WA; four sons, Edward W., and spouse, Faith Quisenberry of Tacoma, WA; John and spouse Sandy Quisenberry of Seabeck; William M. and spouse, Joanne Quisenberry of Port Orchard; Ed Zaremba of Hotchkiss, Colorado; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.Jewel enjoyed oil painting and belonged to the Santa Monica Art Association. She was also one of the original members of the Red Bluff, Ca. Art Association, which was organized in 1956. She won many awards and was in many art shows. She wrote poetry and always saw the good side of life. She was a good and faithful servant and everything she did was with love and service to our beloved Lord and Savior.Public viewing will be Friday, June 22, 2001,from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and on Saturday, June 23, 2001, from 9 a.m. until noon at Rill Chapel. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2001 at Rill Chapel with a reception to follow in the Rill Chapel hospitality room. Entombment will be at Miller-Woodlawn Cemetery in Bremerton.
