Jill A Reed

July 11, 1955 — May 27, 2024

Jill Reed, 68, of Silverdale, WA, passed away in the early hours of Memorial Day, May 27, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jill was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and cherished friend who found joy in crafting, loving on her cats, playing scrabble or Yahtzee, and spending time with her loved ones.

Jill and her husband, Harvey, shared 35 years of marriage. She was a loving mother to her daughter Carin (John) Weier and stepchildren Shannon (Don) Spencer, Angela (Bill) Catron, and Ryan (Lindsey) Reed. Affectionately known as Grandma Jilly and Nana, she treasured her grandchildren: Kayla (Will) Tierney, Andrew Catron, Melanie (Casey and great-grandson Jameson) Jasper, Nathan (Kate and great-grandson Ruca) Weier, and Caden Weier. Jill was also a kind-hearted aunt to Jason Hoepker, Tabitha Rymal-Vaughn, Richard Rymal, Jeff Rymal, and Krystal Rymal.

Fondly known at times as Mrs. Claus, Jill had a special fondness for all things Christmas. Her creativity and love for crafting were evident in her cherished scrapbooks and the joy she shared through her handmade cards, beaded jewelry, imaginative junk journals, and the way she decorated her home. Jill loved gathering crafting supplies almost as much as she loved gathering her friends and daughters to craft with her over the years.

Born and raised in Galion, OH, Jill was the daughter of Edward Rymal and Doris Wehr-Rymal. She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings: her twin brother Jack Rymal, Sharon Rymal-Hoepker (twin to Karen Rymal who died at birth), David Rymal, and Ken Rymal. After the passing of her mother, Doris, Jill was lovingly raised by her Uncle and Aunt, Dick and Edna (Wehr) Seaman, along with her sister/cousins Linda Astorino, Debi Seaman, and cousin Richard Seaman.

Jill proudly served in the US Air Force at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska and never missed an opportunity to thank fellow veterans for their service. After having her daughter Carin, Jill moved to Washington. Nearly a decade later, Jill met and married Harvey. They spent 35 years in Kitsap County, where Jill made every holiday special for their children and grandchildren. Jill made friends wherever she went throughout her various careers, and after many years as a government employee working in admin, purchasing, and hr for Navy Region Northwest, she retired in 2021.

One of Jill’s greatest hopes in life was to impart a sense of hope, encouragement, and creative inspiration to everyone she met. This is where she found true joy and where her legacy will endure in the hearts of those she touched. Jill will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A memorial service to celebrate Jill's life will be held later this summer. Please contact her family for details. In lieu of flowers or donations, please consider honoring Jill's memory by expressing gratitude to oncology nurses and doctors, particularly those on the 7th floor of St. Michael's in Silverdale, WA, who provided unwavering care and compassion to her and her family throughout her journey.
