Joan Carey

Joan Paula Carey of Bremerton, Washington died of ovarian cancer January 31, 2004. She was 69. She was born April 24, 1934 in Superior, Wisconsin to Paul and Alice (Miesbauer) Tillman. She married Thomas W. Carey in 1977 in Santa Barbara, California. Joan graduated from Cathedral High School in Superior, Wisconsin in 1952; and, attended University of California, Santa Barbara, California. She worked as an optometry technician in Santa Barbara; and, worked as a real estate agent in Atascadero, California. Joan enjoyed quilting. Joan is survived by her husband - Thomas Carey of the Bremerton, Washington family home; son - Eric Barnes (& wife, Jody) of North Brook, Illinois; daughter - Darcie Gledhill (& husband, Scott) of Santa Barbara, California; sisters - Jean Smet of Anaheim, California and Judy Dougherty of Camarillo, California; 4 grandchildren (Shannon Gledhill, Pat and Erin Gledhill, Evan Barnes).
