Joan Taylor

Joan Marie Taylor, 67, died at her home in Belfair, Washington on October 19 2006. She was born on March 2, 1939 in Moscow, Idaho to John Fred & Mary Ann (Sanborn) Hume, Jr. Joan's early years were spent at Headquarter, Idaho. Moving with her family in 1955 to Lewiston, Idaho, she graduated from Lewiston High School in 1957 and attended the University of Alaska in Fairbanks. She married Roy S. Taylor on September 25, 1968 in Lewiston, Idaho. Joan worked for 20 years in the research laboratory at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, retiring in 1984. She started her career at the pathology laboratory at St. Joseph's Hospital in Lewiston, subsequent to her studies at the University of Alaska. Following her working career, she and Roy built a home on Collins Lake, near Belfair, where they both enjoyed a peaceful rural life. Joan was a member of the Lewiston Methodist Church in Lewiston, Idaho and enjoyed art, bowling, and skiing. She was a certified backyard wildlife sanctuary. Surviving is her husband Roy of Belfair, Washington; brothers James (Linda) Hume of Spokane Valley, Washington, Jerry (Sharon) Hume of Clarkston, Washington, John W.S. Hume of Lewiston, Idaho, and Jefferay J. Hume also of Lewiston; sister Jane (Jean) Swenson of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews. A private family gathering is planned.
