JoAnn Dale Grey, known lovingly by her family and friends as ‘Bunny’ was born on Oct. 12th, 1933 in Seattle, WA to Gladys Van Meter and was taken to heaven surrounded by her family April 27th, 2021.
Bunny Grey was a true matriarch; a homemaker, business owner, philanthropist, Mother to her four children; Flip, Kevin, Tammy and Joel, Grandmother to her ten grandchildren, Great Grandmother to her two great grandchildren and a loving partner to her husband of almost 50 years, Phil Grey, who preceded her in death.
Bunny and Phil met in Auburn, Washington, were married in Auburn and made their first home in Auburn on ‘M’ Street. The Grey home quickly became a hub for neighborhood gatherings and many memories were made in the midst of playing bridge, impromptu barbecues and after Bunny and Phil built their second home, still on ‘M’ street, pool parties.
While Bunny was keeping everything in working order at home, Phil was putting in his time with GM/Chevrolet. After a move to Olympia Bunny and Phil made the leap and purchased Grey Chevrolet making Port Orchard their permanent home in 1974. They cared deeply about the legacy they were creating together and supported many local groups including the Port Orchard Rotary, Toys for Tots, local little leagues, Seattle Children’s Hospital and South Kitsap Highschool through the dealership and personal contributions.
Bunny’s life was filled with sports games, travel with friends and family from her local favorite, the cabins at Kalaloch, WA to Geneva, Switzerland. She loved to watch her children and grandchildren excel in sports, school and life and was incredibly proud of each and every one of them.
She will be remembered fondly and missed dearly by all those who had the good fortune of knowing her.
