John V. Collins, 88 of Port Orchard died on April 12, 2007. He was born January 31, 1919 in Everett, Massachusetts to William & Hester (Clarke) Collins. He graduated from Malden High School in Malden, Massachusetts and from the University of California at Los Angeles. He married Pedgie R. Worley on September 5, 1971 in Long Beach, California. John worked as a Financial Manager for the Boston Naval Shipyard, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, retiring at the Naval Shipyard in Long Beach in 1974. He also served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1944. John enjoyed music - particularly playing the piano and organ. He also liked traveling. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Orchard Heights Ward in Port Orchard. Surviving are his wife Pedgie; daughter Judy Black of Seal Beach, California; and grandchildren Michelle, Andrea & Kelly McNulty. He was preceded in death by sisters Myrtle Collins & Martha Ferguson and brothers Maurice & Harold Collins. Funeral service at 11:00 am on April 16, 2007 at the LDS Church on Hoover Avenue in Port Orchard. Interment will follow at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard. Memorials donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
