John Michael Finkbeiner

John M. Finkbeiner, 83, of Port Orchard, passed away peacefully April 7, 2015. He was the husband of Dolores Mae Finkbeiner for 28 years and the late Joan (Meredith) Finkbeiner, who died in 1984. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late George Christopher and Elsie (Perl) Finkbeiner. John served in the U. S. Navy as a SeaBee in Puerto Rico. He received a B.S. in forestry from Pennsylvania State University. He worked for over 30 years for the U.S. Forest Service in Washington, Oregon, California and Arizona. John was a lifelong birdwatcher and active member of the Audubon Society. Survivors: Wife, Dolores (Dee); children Elisabeth, John Jr. (Rebecca), Peter and Barbara; grandchildren, Natasha, Luca, and Julia; step-sons Kevan (Cindy) and Kerry (Brenda); sister, Betty Worsinger. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at St. Bede Episcopal Church, 1578 Lider Rd SE, Port Orchard.
