John R. Gaskill, age 64, died March 22, 1999 in Spokane, WA. He was born June 26, 1934 in Holly, Colorado. He began working in construction doing lath, plaster and drywall in the Los Angeles area when he was 20. Mr. Gaskill also had a muffler shop in California. He fathered three sons during his first marriage, and in 1976 married Kathy in Winnemucca, Nevada. 1977 brought Mr. Gaskill to Washington State to work in the Navy Hospital in Jackson Park. He continued working on public and commercial construction projects in Washington, Oregon, California and Idaho until his death and most recently worked for Howard S. Wright Construction in Seattle, WA. Mr. Gaskill raced hot rods and motorcycles in California in the 1950s and recently purchased and raced a 1998 Trans Am. Mr. Gaskill was an avid hunter who enjoyed hunting deer, bear, elk and moose in Washington and British Columbia, Canada. Survivors include his wife, Kathy, daughters - Wendy Gaskill of Port Orchard, Amy Gaskill of Lomita, CA, and Robbie Wolcott of Olalla, WA,; sons - Johnnie R. Gaskill, Jr. of Tacoma, WA., Terry Gaskill of Fernley, Nevada and Rick Gaskill of Long Beach, CA. A memorial service will be held at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, WA., March 27, 1999 at 4:30 p.m.
