John Raymond Hoem

July 10, 1924 — September 25, 2016

John R. Hoem passed away Sunday, September 25th at his home in Port Orchard.
John was born in Bremerton on July 10, 1924 to Charles Hoem and Gladys (Chase) Hoem. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Anderson Hoem; a brother, Clifford, a half brother, Larry, and two step brothers, Norman Frisby and Chandler Thompson.
John is survived by 5 sons, Vic (Cecil) of Moab, Utah; Walt (Stevi) of Bremerton; Ed (Karen); Don (Mickie); and Tom (Sherry) of Port Orchard; his second wife, Frances Bejeault Hoem; a brother, Glenn, of Poulsbo; a half brother, Neil, of Tucson, AZ; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 4 stepfamilies; 4 step grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren.
John enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 for 6 years achieving the rank of Petty Officer First Class. He married Edith Anderson on October 18, 1946. They enjoyed 55 years together before she passed away in 2001. He worked as a Journeyman Boat Builder in Shop 64 at PSNS, after which he had an incredible 42 years of retirement.
John spent many years coaching Little League and Babe Ruth in the early 60’s in Port Orchard. He was a boy scout leader when his sons were involved.
John married Frances Bejeault on Thanksgiving Day 2002 with whom he spent the last 13 years. John enjoyed wood working, fishing, and hunting. He was an avid Mariner’s fan for many years. He bowled on a league at Hi Joy Bowl until he was 88 years old. He was very active with Son’s of Norway and President of the Lodge twice.
He loved being around family and never missed a get together, especially if food was involved and the TV was turned to a Mariner’s game. Hey Dad, we’re all gonna miss you bad!!
