John Arthur Hoffman

February 3, 1959 — September 7, 2014

John A Hoffman, 55 passed away on September 7, 2014 at his home in Port Orchard, WA, surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born on February 3, 1959 in Prineville Oregon to Everett and Winifred Hoffman.
John grew up in Prineville, the family later moved to Grants Pass where he graduated from Grants Pass High School in Oregon in 1977. While still in high school he enlisted in the US Navy’s delayed entry program and spent 8 years defending his country as a Nuclear Electrician. After receiving an honorable discharge, John settled in Bremerton, WA. He then entered the Electrical Apprenticeship with IBEW. He worked for many companies over the years as a Journeyman and a Forman. He finally found a home at Prime Electric, where he was for the last 16 years. Due to health issues, John retired in August 2014.
John married Yvonne in 1990 in Bremerton, WA. They were happily married for 24 years. John was a member of IEBW Local #46. He enjoyed projects around his farm and in his shop, working on his never ending “honey- do list”. He was also a trustee for Colby UMC and Parkwood Community Pool.
The Hoffman home was always a place warmth and acceptance. All the kids’ friends knew the house rules: if you were there when a meal was ready – you got a plate. Also there was always a place to sleep - did not matter if you stayed a night or a year.
John is survived by his wife, Yvonne, of Port Orchard, WA. He is also survived by sons; Ryan Lee Hoffman of Port Orchard WA, Russell James Hoffman, US Army, Ft. Carson, CO; his daughter Allyson Rachel Hoffman of London, England; his brother, Jim Hoffman of Wilsonville, OR; his sister Ellen Foshee of Rainier, OR; his granddaughter, Luna Hoffman; and daughter of his heart, Brandy (Woodard) Bate and Sonya Rombough.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Winifred Hoffman.
A celebration of John’s life will be held in December and he will be taking his final commute.
