John "Jack" Milton Scott Jr.

February 25, 1921 — July 23, 2022

John (“Jack”) Milton Scott Jr, born February 25, 1921, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, July 23, 2022. Jack was 101 years old.

Jack Scott was born in Seattle, Washington, to John M and Annette Scott. During high school, Jack participated in the electrician apprenticeship program at the Puget Sound Navy Shipyard. Upon graduation in 1940, Jack was hired as a Radio Technician for the Shipyard. In 1944, Jack took a leave of absence (giving up his daily wage of $9.68) to join the Navy to serve in World War II (Pacific Theater). Jack was honorably discharged in 1946 and returned to work at the Shipyard. While working full time, Jack completed his business degree from the University of Washington. When Jack retired in 1971, he was the Budget Comptroller at the Puget Sound Navy Shipyard.

Known as “Uncle Jack” and beloved by all of his nieces and nephews, Jack didn’t marry until later in life to his beloved Wife, Ruby Scott (née Porter, former Willock). Together, Jack and Ruby built a home in Manchester. In the ensuing years, Jack and Ruby traveled extensively throughout the U. S., Canada and Mexico.

Jack enjoyed gardening, reading especially his Natural History magazines, playing bridge, traveling, watching documentaries, and family. When it was time to slow down, Jack and Ruby moved to Canterbury Manor Senior Retirement Community in Bremerton.

Ruby, Jack’s beloved wife of 30 plus years, predeceased him in death.

At Jack’s request, there will be no services.
