John Samuel Jackson

John S. Jackson, 78, of Port Orchard, WA died November 9, 2014 at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton, WA. He was born May 21, 1936 in Clarksville, TN and joined the Navy out of high school in 1953. He became a Physician Assistant, Flight-Surgeon Assistance and went to Flight Marine’s in Vietnam. While in the U. S. Navy he was the recipient of two Purple Hearts, Bronze Star, Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Citations and other service pins. He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was a 100% Disable Vet. After the Navy he worked at the Retsil Veterans Home as a Medical Records Administrator. John also became the President of AFL-CIO Local 482. After 26 years he retired and became the President of Retired WA Public Employees- Chapter 19 and was active in the Executive Committee Board in Olympia.
He was preceded in death by sister Betty Grice of Clarksville, TN, father Wiley M. Jackson and mother Claytie Hayes-Jackson. He is survived by wife Gloria Jackson; brother Wiley M. Jackson Jr; nieces Linda Wallace and Anna Withers; step-sons Timmy Blowers and Shannon Blowers; daughter Rene Jackson and granddaughter Jadyn Sinnett.
