John Lamey

January 22, 1922 — December 2, 2003

Reverend John F. Lamey of Port Orchard, Washington died December 2, 2003 at the Port Orchard Care Center. He was 81. He was born in Portland, Oregon January 22, 1922 to John and Eleanor (Huffman) Lamey. John married Patricia A. (Whitfield) Lamey May 24, 1945 in Evanston, Illinois. He graduated from Evanston Township High School in Evanston, Ilinois in 1940; and, attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. John served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 during WWII - attaining rank of Ensign. He served on the U.S.S. Toconic with the Atlantic Fleet. He worked as a salesman for McKinney Hardware in the midwest for 25 years; and was a minister with the United Church of Religious Science for 20 years - retiring in 1991. John was active with the Boy Scouts of America; and, enjoyed playing the clarinet and saxiphone and playing in a band and orchestra. He was a member and past minister with the United Church of Religious Science. John is survived by his wife, Patricia (Whitfield) Lamey of the Port Orchard, Washington family home; sons - Greg Lamey (& wife, Mary) of Mukilteo, Washington, Malcolm Lamey of Silverdale, Washington; daughter - Anne Lehmkuhl (& husband, Merlyn) of Port Orchard, Washington; 6 grandchildren (Jim Redfield, Chris Redfield, Ryan Lamey, Alexa Lamey, Sara Lamey, Andrea Lamey). A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 14, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Church Center for Spiritual Living (206 N. "J" Street, Tacoma, WA). Inurnment will be held at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard, Washington.
