John Main

John Eugene Main of Port Orchard, Washington died September 26, 2005 of natural causes in Bremerton, Washington. He was 86. He was born in Everett, Washington February 15, 1919 to John E. Main and Julia Emma (Hamilton) Main. John married Frances F. (Gillick) Main February 21, 1953. She preceded himn in death August 27, 2005. He graduated South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, Washington in 1936. John served in the U.S. Army from April 1941 - July 1945. He served with the 420 Coast Artillary (Anti-Aircraft) in Sitka Alaska for 3 1/2 years; and, served in the 82nd Airborn Division as a paratrooper. He received an Honorable Discharge as paratrooper in July of 1945, Veteran. He worked for 30 years at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as an electrician; worked as an electrician for Rice Electric in Port Orchard prior to draft in the U.S. Army. He served an apprenticeship as an Electronics Mechanic in Puget Sound Naval Shipyard; and, retired as a Supervisor Progressman (Puget Sound Naval Shipyard). John was a life member and Past Master of the Freemasons of Port Orchard Lodge #8 F & AM Washington. He served as secretary of Lodge #98 for 17 years. John was a member of Lodge #98 for 54 years, raised in 1951. He was an Honary Member of Silverdale Lodge #311. He enjoyed fishing, bird hunting, gardening, wood work, playing Cribbage, mathematics, history and being with friends. John loved dogs and had several family pets over the years: Duke, Duffy and Pierre'. He is survived by daughters - Jeri L. Main of Port Orchard, Washington and Judi Casey (& Robert) of Seattle, Washington; 1 grandchild - Shawn Eugene Main; family - Cherry Ann Snyder, Cindy Weeks, Leon Arnie; friends - Keith and Jean O., Dave & Mary S. Bill C., Slim W., John and Mary G., Ron and Lavelle A. He was preceded in death by brother - Gus Main. Private services will be held at a later date.
