John Mcmillen

John Mitchell McMillen died at Martha and Mary Health Center in Poulsbo, Washington on November 24, 2003. He was 74. He was born in Hume, Missouri on March 30, 1929 to Jacob and Charlotte (Jenkins) McMillen, Sr. John married Dorothy Mae (Dyer) McMillen on August 3, 1949 in Newport Beach, California. Dorothy died May 11, 2002. He graduated from Buena Vista High School in Buena Vista, Colorado in 1947. He served in the US Navy from 1948-1968 as a Hospital Corpsman First Class (HM1); and, won many medals for his markmanship. After retiring from the Navy, he worked as a Shipwright at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington for 20 years. He retired in 1988. John was active in the CB Club with his wife; enjoyed bowling - participating in several leagues; participated in the Joy Group through his church; was a past member of the VFW; enjoyed hunting and fishing in earlier years. He was a member of Navy Yard City Bible Church in Bremerton. John is survived by daughters - Jean Wall (& husband, Eldon) of Bremerton, Washington, Johnnie Duhon (& husband, Bob) of Forest Grove, Oregon; brothers - Jacob McMillen, Jr. of Port Orchard, Washington, Edwin McMillen of Missouri; sisters - Dorthy Burris of Missouri, Estelle Montier of Missouri, Mary Wills of Missouri, Katherine Willoughby of Missouri; 8 grandchildren (Ron Wall, Kristofer Wall, Dori Johnson, Jeni Wall, Ginger Midkiff, Art Duhon, Jr., Zachery Duhon, Chad Duhon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae (Dyer) McMillen. A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 30, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Navy Yard City Bible Church. Interment will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington on Friday, November 28, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. Memorial Donations may be made to: Navy Yard City Bible Church 3648 F.
