John Nobriga

February 23, 1918 — May 16, 2003

John Nobriga, 85, of Port Orchard, Washington, died May 16, 2003 at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, Washington. He was born on February 23, 1918 in Waihee, Maui, Hawaii to Anton and Eulalia (Cordeira) Nobriga. He attended High School at St. Anthony's in Wauluku, Maui. Mr. Nobriga married Agnes E. Ornellas in Paia, Maui on June 12, 1948. She preceeded him in death in 2002.He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Sergeant. He went on to work as a telephone repairman for Hawaiian Telephone, which was later purchased by GTE. He retired in 1983 after 35 years.Mr. Nobriga enjoyed cattle and horse ranching and was a member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church.He is survived by his sons, John Nobriga and his wife Cindy of Lake Oswego, Oregon and Gary Nobriga and his wife Mary Jo of Port Orchard; daughters Linda Bradshaw and her husband Barry of Port Orchard and Jessica Mansfield and her husband Paul of Campbell, California; a brother Frank Nobriga of Honolulu, Hawaii; 5 sisters, Laura Nobriga and Mary Jo Myers of Honolulu, Nina Sparks and Sylvia Amaral of San Diego, Californina and Cecilia Wholey of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 5 grandchildren, Cathy, Stephen, Denise, Daniel and Darren; and 5 great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Hunter, Zachary, Johnathon and Taryn.Visitation will be from 10 AM - 11 AM at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Port Orchard, Washington on May 21, 2003. The Funeral Mass will be at 11 AM on May 21, 2003 with interment to follow at Sunset Lane Cemetery, Port Orchard. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Kitsap County, P.O. Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383.Services are under the direction of Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard, Washington.
