John Rech

November 7, 1926 — February 24, 2009

John N. Rech, 82, of Port Orchard, died February 24, 2009.   John was born on November 7, 1926 in Dickinson, North Dakota.  He grew up on a farm in a large family and attended school there.   John was called into the military, serving in the Army during World War II in Japan. After the war, he began a photography business with his brother in San Francisco.  He returned to North Dakota and married Mae on February 16, 1954.   They began their family and moved to San Francisco for 16 years.   In 1973 they moved to Port Orchard where he worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton for 25 years.  John was a man who loved his family and always put their needs ahead of his own. He enjoyed fishing with his kids & grandkids. He also loved music and was a great accordion player.  John is survived by his wife Mae; sons Conrad & Daniel of Port Orchard, Michael (Elise) of Bellevue and David of Seattle; daughters: Audrey Rech & Patricia Weisert of Port Orchard, Kathy Kelley of Lynnwood and Mitzi Grade of Gig Harbor; sisters Margaret Roller, Katie Klemm & Anne Ellingson; 11 grandchildren and 1 great- grandchild.  A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard with inurnment following at Sunset Lane Cemetery, also in Port Orchard.
