John Anthony Schoemaker, 56 of Port Orchard, died of leukemia on April 16, 2005 in Bremerton, Washington. He was born in Seattle, Washington on April 25, 1948 to Delmer & Antoinette (Meek) Shoemaker. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1966. On November 15, 1980, John married Maria Moffit in Port Orchard. John worked for 34 years for the U.S. Postal service as a Retail Sales Associate in Bremerton. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1967 to 1995, attaining the rank of technical sergeant. He received numerous awards including the Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal. John was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Bremerton and St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard. He enjoyed his children, flowers, horticulture, woodworking, military history, oldies music and video taping family events. He is survived by his wife; parents of Southworth; sons Paul (Dawn) Shoemaker of Warner Robbins, Georgia and Johnny (Nicole) Owen of Port Orchard; daughters Katie Schoemaker of Port Orchard, Lisa (Mike) Martucci of Laceyville, Pennsylvania, Annetta (Eric) Guyer of San Diego, California, and LeLonni Kniggy of Federal Way; great aunt Mae Weiss; grandchildren Callista, Ethan, Andrew, Valarie, Amber, Ashley and Darian. Visitation will be from noon until the 7pm Rosary on April 22, 2005 at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. Funeral Mass will be 1:00pm on April 23, 2005 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard with interment following at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard.
