John Richard "Dick" Smith, 70, died at his home in Port Orchard, Washington on November 5, 2006. He was born on September 16, 1936 in Panama City, Panama to John C. & Blanca Rosa (DePuy) Smith. He married Katherine "Kathy" Duerr on December 30, 1976 in Port Orchard. Dick graduated from Balboa High School in Panama City and from Olympic College in Bremerton, Washington in 1975 with an Associate Degree. He worked as a Sr. Missile Inspector with Lockheed at Bangor Subase for 15 years, retiring in 1999. He also served in the U.S. Army as a PFC. Dick enjoyed sports - especially the Mariners. He liked working on the computer, photography, playing pool, shuffleboard, softball, bowling, and motorhoming. He was a member of the Port Orchard Eagles. Surviving are his wife Kathy; sons Keith Richard Smith of New York, Lawrence Alan (Christine) Smith of Dublin, California, and Jacob Leon (Jessica) Tate of Olympia, Washington; daughter Deborah Jean Smith of Port Orchard; brother Frankie Smith of Tallahasee, Florida; sister Marybelle Smith of Balboa, Panama; grandchildren Greg (Jennifer) Greseth, Geoff Greseth, April Greseth, Bradley Smith, and Anthony Russell Ackaert, all of Port Orchard and Eva Jane Tate of Olympia; and great-grandchildren Vanessa & David Avila of Dublin. He was preceded in death by daughter Linda Louise Smith. The family would like to thank Group Health Hospice - Barb Cooney, Jan Kerman, and Mitzi Booth & Doctors Tinker & Corley for care and kindness. Memorial service will be at 1:00 pm on Sunday, November 12, 2006 at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard.
