Jon Towns

July 15, 1941 — April 26, 2007

Jon P. Towns, 65, of Bremerton, formerly of Port Orchard, died April 26, 2007, at his home. Jon was born July 15, 1941 in Nashville, MI, to George and Yvonne (Appelman) Towns. He married Joanne "Toni" Jasienski in Camden, NJ on Dec. 1, 1962. They were married for 33 years before she preceded him in death in 1995. Jon served in the Navy aboard the USS Kidd in Philadelphia, PA, from 1963 to 1965. He later worked as a welder/pipe fitter for Union Local 631 in Bremerton. Jon had 27 years of active membership in the American Mountain Man Association and was a long standing member of the Bremerton Brigade. Survivors include sons Jock Towns of Bremerton and Peter Towns of Port Orchard; daughter Susan Valley of Belfair; brother Nelson "Butch" Towns of Sarasota, FL; and 3 grandchildren Sarah, Michael and Mitchell Waye of Belfair. A gathering at Ft. Nisqually in June will be announced at a later date. Donations in Jon's name AKA Couple Bucks to Ft. Nisqually Living History Museum, 5400 N. Pearl St, Tacoma, WA 98407.
