Jose Aguon Torres, 74, of Port Orchard, WA, died Thursday, September 11, 2003, at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, WA. He was born October 24, 1928, in Agana, Guam, to Jose and Isabel (Aguon) Torres. He graduated from the Territorial College of Guam in Mangilao, Guam, in 1961 and from the Guam Trade and Technical School also in Mangilao in 1968.On December 4, 1989, he married Isabel Ignacio in Tamuning, Guam.Mr. Torres began working with the federal government in Guam in 1950 as a maintenance trainee. He retired from the Navy Public Works Center on Guam in 1990 as a planner and estimator after 39 1/2 years of service.He was a member of The Guamanian Club of Bremerton and St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard.Mr. Torres enjoyed raising turkeys, fishing, bowling, dancing and sightseeing. He loved his dogs, Bonita ("beautiful" in Chamorro) and Buster (who rode with him wherever he went).Survivors include his wife Isabel Torres, of Port Orchard, WA; five sons, Herman (Mae) Torres, of Yona, Guam, Albert (Corazon) Torres, of Yona, Guam, Herman C. Salavante, Jr., of Santa Ana, CA, Darren Jericho I. Salavante, of Seattle, WA, Roy (Emma) Salas, of Bremerton, WA; eight daughters, Linda E.T. San Agustin, of Yona, Guam, Marilyn T. (Carlos) Balajadia, of Yona, Guam, Grace I. (Leonard) Paulino, of Santa Ana, CA, Betty Ann I. Mesa, of Kingman, AZ, Annabelle I. Salavante-Bell, of Lakewood, WA, Mercy S. (Chris) Fuller, of Oak Harbor, WA, Caroline S. (David) Cruz, of N. Las Vegas, NV, Manda Perez-Ignacio, of Santa Ana, CA; brothers, Vicente A. Torres, of Jacksonville, FL, and James (Pat) Fejeran, of Santa Ana, CA; sisters, Victoria T. Quenga, of Yona, Guam, Elizabeth T. Cruz, Reggie Salas; great grandchildren, Mia, Manny, Lea, Ella, Tammy, Taylor, Caleb, Maia, Tyler, Leilani, Noah, R.J., Jonah, Raymond, Christopher, Elena, Alaize, Aaron, Monet.Mr. Torres was preceded in death by his first wife, Maria Teresita Mesa Torres; a daughter, Judy Ann M. Torres; a sister and brother-in-law, Dolores T. and Vicente Flores; a brother, Joaquin A. Torres; and a son-in-law, Joseph San Agustin.Nightly rosaries will be said at the family home at 8:00PM. A rosary and viewing will be held Tuesday, September 16, 7:00PM, at Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard, WA. A Mass will be celebrated at noon Wednesday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Interment will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bremerton. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
