Joseph Fallica was born on April 28th, 1944 in New York, New York to parents Anthony and Bessie Fallica. He spent his entire childhood in the same house in Franklin Square, New York (Long Island). In Junior High School he met his future wife Patricia. They had a long courtship and were married on January, 24th 1970. Joseph and Patricia had just celebrated their 43rd Anniversary before her death on October 18th, 2013. They enjoyed spending their last years together in their home of 12 years in Port Orchard, Washington.
Joseph graduated from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York on June 4th, 1972 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, majoring in Computer Science. He went onto become a Certified Public Accountant in 1981 for the Procurement Division in Washington, D.C. and a Certified Financial Analyst in 1984.
Joseph obtained the title as a Contracting Specialist for the Federal Aviation Administration in 1989 of Renton, Washington. Joseph has received 6 special achievement awards from various government agencies, including a Letter of Appreciation from the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
On May 10, 1990 Joseph was specially nominated to the Selective Service System Board from then Governor of the State of Washington, Booth Gardner. Joseph honorably retired from the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington on January 11, 2014 for recognition of all his years working for the Federal Civil Service.
Joseph was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. He greatly enjoyed carpentry, and has filled not only his home, but his children’s houses with beautiful reminders of his master talent over the years.
The three hobbies he would refer to as peaceful escapes would be sailing, hiking, reading and gardening. Joseph would often refer to his friend Brian whom would often join him on hiking adventures, and was considered a very good personal friend of his.
He recently made a small Chinese wooden gazebo that graces his garden. The daffodil’s he had given his daughter weeks ago, started to bloom right after his passing.
Joseph also had a real appreciation for music, especially opera or his favorite, musicals. His home was filled with Italian and Victorian touches, in which you could be sure to be welcomed with warm hospitality, plenty to eat, and to be entertained with the sounds of music. You might even get quizzed on “what movie did this song come from”? When his children were young, they enjoyed getting a quarter as a prize if they got the right answer. His favorite song & movie was from 1942, “I married an Angel”, with Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy. Our family believes he is now peacefully and happily joined with his angel, Patricia.
His family and friends will always remember above all his generous and giving nature. He has especially been the greatest example to his two children Jennifer and Michael of what it means to be a father, a true provider with endless unconditional love. He will be greatly missed and will forever be in the hearts of his loved ones, family and friends.
Joseph will also be honorably remembered at his burial for all his service to our country while serving in the United States Army from 1969 to 1974. The Color Guard will perform Taps, and present the American flag to Joseph’s son Michael Fallica.
