Joseph Buhl Firman, 53, passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 3, 2016 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He was born November 23, 1962 in Omaha, Nebraska to Donald & Karen (Buhl) Firman. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1981. He married Jean Macabitas on February 3, 1987 and raised four beautiful children. A graduate of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, in Daytona Beach, Florida, he earned a degree of Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Studies.
Affectionately known as “Bubba” (and “Bagel” by his youngest daughter), he enjoyed family game nights and picnics, watching his children playing their various sports, building model airplanes, sailing and reading historical books. He had a special way of engaging in conversations with the young and old, on various topics such as: Teen Age Mutant Ninja Turtles, sports, politics, tv shows, art and historical events.
Surviving are his wife Jean, daughter Nicole (Cory) Dame of Gig Harbor, Samantha Firman and Cassidy Firman of Port Orchard and son Donald “Jordan” Firman who is in the US Navy; Sister Gail Porter (nieces: Hannah & Naomi) of Port Orchard ; brother Richard (Denise) Firman (nephews: Jake (Angela & Mia), Taylor & Joel, niece: Katie (Sean & Oliver) Karstedt) of Covington, WA; and loving aunts & cousins. He also had numerous brother-in-laws, sister-in-law’s, nieces and nephews on the Macabitas side.
Memorial Services will be on Saturday, March 12th at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Port Orchard. 10:30 – Rosary, 11:00 – Mass, with reception following. Burial will be on Tuesday, March 15th at 1:30, Sunset Lane Memorial Park, Port Orchard.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff at Harborview Medical Center, in Seattle Washington, for their amazing, compassionate and endless care for Joe. And to our family, friends and especially to Pacific NW Title, thank you for your thoughtful prayers and support.
