Joseph Lyle Snow, known to many as Joe, was born in Bremerton, WA on July 19, 1933. Joe passed away on February 19, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Preceded in death by wife Diane, and children Daniel, Shirley Jo, Donna, Donnie, and Dennis, as well as, beloved parents Clarence and Lilly Snow, and siblings Gene, Janice, Barbara, Sharon, and Rosemary. Survived by siblings Lewis and Lettie, and children Regina (Bud), Linda, Tony, Thea, Raymond (Patti), Debbie (Jim), and Darcy (Jon), and countless beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joe began his firefighting career as a volunteer for District 7, Olalla Fire Department. In 1975, Joe became the Port Orchard Fire Marshall and in 1982, the Port Orchard Fire Chief. Joe's long career ended in 2000 with a beautiful retirement spent with family and friends. Along with spending quality time with loved ones, Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, boxing, and horse racing. He even had the pleasure of owning his own racehorse.
In a 1997 article written about him in the Kitsap Sun, Joe said, "If a kid needs a father or a grandfather, there I am". No words could ring truer. Joe was a loving father and grandfather to many. He’s left his mark on this world as a husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend that we've all treasured. Joe was known for being sacrificial, humble, steadfast, and courageous - the traits of a true hero. He has left an amazing legacy behind and will be greatly missed.
You've reached the end of your earthly journey. You've kept the faith, finished the race, and you've been welcomed into the arms of Jesus. So there you are....home forever.
