Joseph Michael Stimson

Joe passed away on July 20th, 2015 at home, he was 51 years old. Joe was born on November 29, 1963 to Mary Kathleen and Michael Joseph Stimson in Spokane, Washington. Joe lived in Spokane, Bridgeport and Bellingham until his family moved to Port Orchard in 1967.

Joe spent his childhood playing little league soccer, football and baseball. He played in the Marcus Whitman Jr High school band and ran track and pole vaulted at South Kitsap High School. Joe Graduated from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard in 1982. After high school graduation, Joe spent his first summer in Texas with his best friend at the time, Scott Mason. He worked, played and explored for the summer. After coming home to Port Orchard, he spent 1 year at Olympic College then went to work as an automobile mechanic which was his profession during the majority of his working career. During his mechanic time, Joe also participated in stock car and dirt track racing. Joe had a passion for speed from the moment he could drive and especially loved getting loose dirt track racing which is what he spent his weekends doing for years during racing season.

Joe always made himself available to help family when needed and would rarely miss an academic, sporting or any other life achievement of a family member. Joe was also a very active Uncle, always eager to help and mentor his nieces and nephews in their youth. When Joe’s father became ill and could no longer take care of himself, Joe was his father’s full time Caregiver until his father’s death in 2012.

Joe was a devoted Catholic and enjoyed watching daily mass and saying the Rosary daily. He also loved all outdoor activities including camping, back country hiking, fishing and hunting.

Joe is preceded in death by his Father Michael Joseph Stimson. He is survived by his Mother, Kathleen Stimson; his siblings Mary (Dale) Davis, Patricia Stimson, Maureen (John) Stacy, John Stimson, Geraldine (Matt) Lindseth; his nieces Michelle (Colin) Clark, Atlanta Stacy; his nephews Mark (Chelsea) Davis, Richard (Tabitha) Davis, Paul Davis, Christopher Davis, Samuel Stimson-Beers, Nathan Stimson-Beers, Elijah Stacy, Gabriel Stimson, Garrett Stimson, Tobias Stimson, Brady Lindseth and Evan Lindseth. Joe was a simple and caring person, full of love and integrity and always willing to help. He will be missed by his family with fond memories until we meet again.

The funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday July 29th at 11:00 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 1516 5th Street, Bremerton, WA with a reception to follow at the Church reception hall and graveside services at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard at 2:00. An optional Rosary prayer will precede the funeral at 10:30 am.
