Joseph Westaby

Joseph "Joe" Charles Westaby died August 15, 2002 in Camas, Washington as the result of a motorcycle accident. He was 76.He was born February 15, 1926 in Madison, Lake County, South Dakota to Joseph Charles Westaby, Sr. and Edna Mae (Van Nostrand) Westaby.He graduated from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, Washington in 1944. He was a retired marine and served in WWII, in Korea and in Viet Nam. He achieved the rank of Master Sergeant.Joe enjoyed dancing, motorcycling, camping, fishing, reading historic novels and westerns. He was a member of the Methodist Church.He is survived by sons - Daniel E. Westaby of Salt Lake City, Utah, William R. Westaby (and wife Juanita) of Grand Rapids, Michigan; daughters - Sherry Bryant (and husband Bob)of San Mateo, California, Candaceileen Roswell (and husband Jim) of Belfair, Washington, Ellen Nelson (and husband Greg) of Salt Lake City, Utah; sister - Beulah Barelli of Stockton, California; 11 grandchildren: Joseph & Carrie Taylor, Jeanette, Colby, Brittainy & Miles Rodin, Sarah & Nathan Boyd, Jessica, Emily & Natalie Westaby, Holley E. Baker, Matthew, Misty & Damien Shinsell and Felicia Meyers; 4 great-grandchildren: Brittany, Miles Crystal and Robin.A memorial service will be held at Fraola Cemetery, Mullinex Road, Port Orchard, Washington at a time and date to be determined.Memorial Donations: In lieu of flowers, family asks that you give a donation to the charity of your choice.
