Joy Rowden-Kelley

Joy A. Rowden-Kelley was born in Vallejo, CA on Dec. 21, 1934 to Charles and Frances (Hutchinson) LaCoste. She passed away peacefully on Dec. 3, 2009 after a 6 month battle with pancreatic cancer. She attended South Kitsap High School and later in the 1970’s went on to get her GED. She married Charles W Rowden, Jr. on April 4, 1953. Chuck preceded her in death on June 22, 1992 after 39 years of marriage. In 1999 she met Robert Kelley and they were married on Aug. 18, 2007. She and Bob enjoyed “snow birding” to their home in San Felipe, Mexico during the winter months. Survivors include her husband Bob; sister Vyette Meecham; daughters, Dawna (John) Patterson of Ohio, Cheryl (Jim) Larson, Charla (Dale) McAlpin , Tiffaney (Ken) Lemoine of Wyoming; sons, Robert (Barb) Rowden, Richard (Nancy) Rowden, Carl (Carmen) Rowden; foster son, Huey Puryear; step children, Margo Kelley and Mike Kelley; 20 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 2 more on the way. She was also “mom” to 100 plus foster children and “adopted” children as well! Funeral services will be 12 Noon, Wed, Dec. 9, 2009 at Rill’s Life Tribute Center with burial following at Sunset Lane Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tues from 6-8pm at the Tribute Center.
