Joyce was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 6, 1947 to Carl and Lillian (Ahlstrom) Malmfeldt. She met Jerry Woods in Spokane in the mid-80’s and they married in Port Orchard on December 5, 1987. They were together for just over thirty years.
Joyce worked as an accountant in Kitsap County for the City of Bremerton at Public Works from where she retired in June of 2012. She was also a bit of a biker. She drove a Honda Gold-Wing three-wheeler and was very proficient at it. Jerry had a Gold Wing as well, but it was a two-wheeler.
She picked up on one of the newer forms of relaxation when they came out a couple of years ago in the very intricately designed adult coloring books. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, Sudoku, growing roses and her and Jerry also enjoyed watching football together.
She loved puppies and had a special affinity for Shiatzu’s of which she had two. She also enjoyed traveling in their 35’ fifth wheel. She loved the sound of the ocean, so it was a natural fit that the fifth wheeler was taken to places like the Ocean Beaches at La Push and Ocean City.
She was at St Joseph’s Hospital in Tacoma when she passed away at the age of 69. She will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved her.
There will be a celebration of Joyce’s life at Rill Chapel on Friday, March 3rd at 1:00 pm.
