Joyce Ann Ison-Angel was born August 11th, 1935 in Seattle, WA. She was raised and lived in Kitsap County most of her life, Joyce spent her early years with her parents, John and Florence Walton and brothers Roy and John. Graduating from West High School in Bremerton in 1953, she started her adult life raising five children. She worked at Spud-Nut Donuts, the Westgate Motel, Belfair Liquor Agency, and as a personal housekeeper while actively participating in her community. Joyce is a 50-plus year member of the Order of Eastern Star (past matron) and member of the Daughters of the Nile.
Spending time at the family cabin on Wildcat Lake with friends and family was a favorite pastime - especially when listening to Willie Nelson, enjoying Camp Union Pizza, and swimming in the lake. As a Kitsap County native, Joyce was patriotic and loved the colors red, white, and blue, and bald eagles.
If you knew Joyce, you would instantly recognize her amazing jewelry (Black Hills Gold, personalized cartouche necklace, and opals at all times), signature apple berry lipstick, and Elizabeth Taylor Passion perfume. Her best days included Pink Champagne Cake from McGavin's Bakery in any size, shape, or form. She loved flowers with lilacs and hydrangeas being her favorites.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John and Roy Walton (Evelyn), husbands Merrill Ison, and Robert Angel. She is survived by her children Debbie (Chris) Lemke, Donna (Rick) Martin, Dale (Ruth) Ison, Dorene Ison, and Merrillyn Ison; grandchildren, Christy Deese, Jena Lemke, Jaime (Melvin) Perez, Ashley Lemke, Amy (Seth) Hamlett, Amber (Mike) Nunley, Angela (Todd) Loose, Ashley Duszynski, Carlitos Davila-Ison, and Charlea Patterson; twelve Great-Grand Children, and sister in-law Joan Walton.
Thank you to everyone that loved and supported Joyce throughout her life. A special thank you to the staff at Liberty Place that were on her team and the staff at St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor for their kindness, compassion, and care.
Joyce donated to many special causes dear to her. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity that speaks to your heart.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
