Joyce Ponton

Joyce Anne Ponton,71, of Port Orchard died March 2, 2010 in Gig Harbor.  Joyce was born Oct. 26, 1938 at Stubenville, Ohio to Ward and Ruth (Martin) Jones.  She graduated from Venice High School in California.  Joyce married Andrew Ponton Dec. 21, 1978 in Santa Monica, CA.  Her husband preceded her in death in 1994.  Joyce was a home maker and with her husband they fostered 138 foster children and adopted 3 of them.    She belonged to the Eagles aerie 2338 in Port Orchard and held office of the inner guard.  Joyce loved dancing on Friday nights at the Eagles, decorating cakes, planting flowers, and playing bingo. Also preceded in death are her parents, niece, Ruth Ann Parker, and grandson, Douglas A. Nabors.  Survived by a son, Karl Ponton of Port Orchard, daughters Patricia (Doug) Nabors of Port Orchard, Jeanette (Marilyn) Tonnies of Saugus, CA, Teresa (Tim) Ballard of Virginia, Lynn Ponton of San Fernando Valley, CA and Melissa Ponton of Port Orchard.  Step children, Janet, Caroline and Kathy.  Sister Marjorie Richmond of Louisville, KY, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.  Memorial service will be at the Eagles Hall in Port  Orchard 9:00am March 20, 2010
