Karen Lee Westhouse

Karen Lee Westhouse went to heaven to be reunited with the love of her life, Arthur on September 22nd, 2019. She was born in Boone, Iowa on September 11th, 1938 to Josephine and Maurice Paup. Karen came to Dorris and attended Butte Valley High School. Upon attending a “Red Barn” Dance in Dorris, California, Karen met her soul mate Arthur Westhouse.
Karen and Arthur married and had a wonderful marriage of sixty-three years. During that time, they raised four children: Laura (Dennis) Peterson, James (Jennie) Westhouse, Pamela Westhouse (Kent Wilkenson) and Mary (Mark) Williams. Karen and Arthur have four grandchildren: Angela (Steven) Silvernail, Jennifer (Nathan) Peterson, Melissa Westhouse and Maverick Williams. They were also blessed with eight great-grandchildren: Madeline, Isabelle, Tate and Caroline Silvernail and Collin, Chloe, Claira, and Cohen Peterson. Together they built the house they called home. They were both long-standing members of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Dorris.
Through the years Karen was like a mom to many of the children that attended Butte Valley Schools; where she worked as an instructional aide. She enjoyed walking and exercising in her younger years and later reading and embroidery. Each spring and summer she looked forward to planting flowers and tending to her rose bushes. In her last week of life, she celebrated her 81st birthday with family and friends.
Her services will be held on Saturday, November 9th, 2019 1:00pm at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church and a Celebration of Life 2:30pm at Butte Valley Community Center, 52900 US Hwy 97 Dorris, CA 96023
