Kathryn Commings

Kathryn Haverstick Commings, 91, died at her home in Port Orchard on August 28, 2010.  She was born February 12, 1919 in Indianapolis, IN to Charles & Lillian (Hiskin) Wolven.  She graduated from Petersburg High School in Indiana in 1936 and married Charles R. Haverstick on May 28, 1938 in Indianapolis  He preceded her in death in 1961.  She married Ara J. Commings on July 3, 1968 and he also preceded her in 1981. Kathryn worked as a Cosmetologist for 35 years, retiring in 1984.  She enjoyed reading the Bible, word search puzzles, solitaire and reading Christian authors.  She was a member of the Port Orchard Church of Christ. Surviving are son Charles (Roselyn) Haverstick of Indianapolis, IN; daughter LaDonna (David) Latham of Port Orchard; grandchildren Lori Warnke, Melissa Bell & Aaron Haverstick; great-grandchildren Paul & Nick Wiedmaier, Lili Grace & Molly Elizabeth Bell.  She was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 3 brothers. Memorial service at 2:30 pm on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at the Church of Christ in Port Orchard.
