Kathryn Minnie Ewing

Kathryn (Trina) Minnie Ewing passed away on June 13, 2015. She was the fourth out of five children born to Elmer and Helen Christensen on October 10, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska. She attended the University of Nebraska then married Donald E. Ewing, Sr. in 1950. In 1951 they had a daughter, Christine Helen Ewing and in 1954 they had a son, Donald Eugene Ewing, Jr.
In the summer of 1964, the family moved from Omaha to Washington state, living in Stanwood, Washington until 1968 when Kathryn and the two children moved to Lacey, Washington. Before she retired, Kathryn worked for the Department of Labor and Industries as a claims manager.
She loved to read and was a very, very talented knitter, creating many beautiful sweaters for the family. Her greatest love was spending time with her family. Like everyone in her family, she had a tremendous sense of humor and family gatherings were always great fun.
She left behind a sister, Marjorie Putt and a brother, David Christensen, her daughter, Christine Foster, Christine’s husband, Jim and their two children Matthew and Kathryn as well as Matthew’s wife, Sheila and their two children, David and Holly. She also left behind her son, Donald, his wife Jean and their two children, Nicole and Kayla, and a myriad of nieces and nephews living near and far.
We will be holding a celebration of her life on Sunday, August 2nd.
