Kathryn Suzanne Fuller (née Rice)
September 22, 1951 – November 23, 2024

Kathryn Suzanne Fuller, 73, of Port Orchard, Washington, passed away suddenly on November 23,
2024. Born on September 22, 1951, Kathryn grew up in St. Joseph, Michigan. She lived a life devoted to her family, her career, and her passions.

Kathryn was the daughter of Harry Rice and Ruth Calkins (née Kovalska), both of whom preceded
her in death. She was also preceded in death by her siblings William Rice, James Rice, and Patricia
Tillman (née Rice); additionally, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lanny Smith. She
is survived by her siblings Donald (Sherry) Rice of Berrien Springs, Michigan, and Ronald Rice of
Bridgman, Michigan and her loving second husband, Bruce Fuller of Port Orchard, Washington.

Kathryn's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children: Bradley Smith (Amy Moriarity-Smith) of Racine, Wisconsin, Craig Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada, Andrew (Jordan) Smith of
Albuquerque, New Mexico, Alexander Fuller of New York, New York, and her beloved grandchildren
Julie Kaczmarek of Chicago, Illinois, and Caledon Smith of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

A proud graduate of St. Joseph High School’s class of 1969, Kathryn later earned her Associate
Degree in Nursing from Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor, Michigan, in 1987. She embarked
on a distinguished nursing career that spanned over three decades, serving patients with
compassion and dedication. Her career began at Memorial Hospital (now Lakeland Healthcare) in
St. Joseph, Michigan, and took her to North Carolina and Washington state, where she held various
roles that left a lasting impact on the communities she served. Although she always denied it, as a
nurse she saved uncountable lives.

In retirement, Kathryn embraced her creative side and became a talented painter. She found joy in
creating art, traveling, hiking and spending cherished moments with her grandson, Caledon. She
was an active member of her HOA in Port Orchard, Washington, where her contributions were
deeply valued.

Kathryn will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, artistic talent, and adventurous soul. She
touched countless lives through her care and kindness, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth.
