Kenneth Christopherson

Kenneth Charles Christopherson was born in Vermillion, SD to Fred Lars Christopherson and Clara Martha Millage.  Ken joined the National Guard in 1950 and was stationed in Alaska until May 1954. He married Donna Jean Girard from Elk Point, SD on December 31, 1954.   He joined the Army in June, 1955 and served tours in Germany, Okinawa, Hawaii, Turkey and three tours in Viet Nam returning to Fort Lewis, WA after each tour.  He retired in August 1974 as a CWO4. He worked for a private contractor in Saudi Arabia for several years training the Saudi National Guard. Donna still worked for Civil Service. They transferred to Pennsylvania in 1989. After Donna retired they moved back to Vermillion, SD in 1991 and stayed until 2001 when they moved back to Port Orchard, WA. Ken “Chris” passed away at the age of 78 surrounded by his family.  He is survived by his wife Donna, of 55 years; children Melinda (randy) Kelly of Puyallup, Melissa (Les) Sawdye of Port Orchard, Stephen (Ann Marie) Christopherson of Alexandria, VA; grandchildren Scott and Troy Kelly , Alexander and Nicolas Christopherson. He is also survived by two of his ten siblings Darrell Christopherson of Vermillion, SD and Marietta Muckey of Desert Hot Springs, CA.  Committal Service is at Tahoma National Cemetery on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 11:00 am.
