Kennith R. Hensley

November 8, 1944 — July 19, 2015

Kennith was known for his sayings, opinions and advice. He would often tell you to “keep your nose clean”, “what the devil” or “God bless it!” And when you tried to tell him something, he would say, “likely story.” He was also famous for saying, “I have one word for you, Women!” Some of his last words of wisdom were “you can’t reward stupid!” He was loved for his sarcastic, dry sense of humor.
When Ken married Lynn, they didn’t just become a union of two, but a union of six. Ken’s three children from his first marriage to Lorraine, and Lynn’s daughter blended into a ready-made family. His children Patrick, Michelle, Bethany and Christopher, loved his laugh, stories, and especially his bear hugs. Ken’s other four children are his dogs, Emmy, Lizzy, Harley and Alex…his kids are convinced he replaced each of them with a dog!
Ken has three granddaughters, Makayla, Sydney and Megan. He affectionately referred to them as “squirt”, “kid” and “rascals”. His heart overflowed with love and pride for each of them! He loved sharing books, poems, and adventures with them.
Ken spent 35-plus-plus loving years with Lynn, who he called “Hun”. You could often catch them hugging, or him kissing her cheek in quiet moments. Ken’s mission in life was to take care of his wife. He was always opening doors for others; a true gentleman.
After Ken left the Army, he worked for Reliance Trucking Company for over 19 years, which brought him from Maryland to Arizona. His next adventure was with Bigge Crane & Rigging in San Leandro, California. Ken had a very strong work ethic and was often called a workaholic. He was the go-to guy for everything and took pride in doing his job well. Ken retired in 2014 and moved himself, Lynn and his four dogs to Washington.
When Ken wasn’t working, you could find him in his garage tinkering with vintage cars and wood projects. He often worked on projects around the house…anything to work with his hands. He enjoyed attending vintage car shows and belonged to corvette clubs, Porsche clubs and vintage car clubs. Ken’s 1929 Ford pickup, Emma, was his prized possession. Ken’s other hobbies were reading books, watching B-movies, and do-it-yourself YouTube videos.
Ken was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be fiercely missed. And as he would say in the end, “give me a hug.”
